§ 54-36. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this division, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Administrator means the individual serving as the fair housing administrator and includes the assistants, agents or employees designated by the administrator.

    Actor means a person identified in a complaint as having committed an offense under this article.

    Age means and refers to persons of all ages including minors living with a parent or guardian.

    Discriminatory housing practice means any act that is unlawful under the terms of this article.

    Family means a single individual or any group of two or more nonrelated single individuals.

    Housing accommodation means premises that are occupied or designatedany person under 18 years old, is unmarried or has not had disabilities of a minor removed for general purposes.

    Person means an individual, family, corporation, government or governmental subdivision, or agency trust, partnership, or two or more persons who have a joint or common economic interest.

    To rent means to lease, sublease, or otherwise grant for a consideration the right to occupy the premises not owned by the occupant.
